License Information
Two ways to use these skies — open under Creative Commons, or licensed commercially with custom terms.
Commercial & attribution-free licensing
For advertising, film, broadcast, game, and other commercial work, non-exclusive, royalty-free licenses are available that remove the attribution and share-alike requirements. Terms are tailored to media, territory, and term. These images have been licensed commercially by studios and agencies including Nike / Air Jordan and Hyundai — see Notable Credits.
To discuss a license, use the contact form. Tell me the intended use, media, territory, and term and I’ll quote it.
Open use — Creative Commons
The public library is offered under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. You may use the cloud images for editorial, educational, and non-commercial projects, provided you:
- credit Colorado Clouds (coclouds.com) as the source, and
- distribute any derivative works under the same license.
Walt Disney Animation Studios built its widely used “Cloud” research data set from one of these Creative Commons images, released back to the community under the same license — see Notable Credits.
You’re also welcome (but not required) to let me know where the images are used — I always enjoy seeing it. Donations toward the hobby are appreciated, and prints are available on request.
